Registration number validation

Sliptree validates company registration numbers against the official format of the country they belong to. The check applies to the Registration number field on the business profile and on customers — whether the customer is edited on its own page, inline in the document editor, or through a customer import.

When the check runs

  • A number is validated when it is entered or changed. Numbers that are already saved are not re-checked, so editing other fields of a business or customer always saves, and re-importing unchanged customers always succeeds.
  • Changing the country re-validates the number against the new country's format.
  • Countries not listed below have no defined format in Sliptree, and any value is accepted.

Formatting

Numbers can be typed the way they are usually written. Spaces, dots, hyphens and similar separators do not affect validation, and the number is stored exactly as typed. CHE-109.322.551 and CHE109322551 are the same number.

Rejected numbers

A number that does not match its country's format shows a message under the field describing the expected format — for example, Estonian company registration numbers are 8 digits. The form does not save until the number is corrected. There is no manual override. A genuinely valid number that is rejected should be reported to support.

Validated formats

Where a country builds a check digit into its numbers, the check digit is verified as well, so a number of the right length with two digits swapped is still rejected.
