Subscription plans, upgrades, and downgrades
Sliptree has three plans — Free, Starter, and Unlimited — managed from Business settings → Billing.
The plans
| Plan | Invoices per year | Customers | Team members |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 10 | 5 | 1 |
| Starter | 30 | 25 | 1 |
| Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
All plans share the same feature set with one exception: only Unlimited supports multiple team members. On Free and Starter the business is a single-seat workspace.
Each paid plan can be billed monthly or annually. Annual billing is roughly two months cheaper than the equivalent monthly rate. The frequency is chosen at subscription and can be changed later from the same page.
Usage limits
Limits apply per business and are enforced as follows:
- Customers — once the limit is reached, the New customer button is disabled and bulk imports stop creating new customers. Existing customers continue to work.
- Invoices per year — the count resets on January 1st. When the limit is reached, no new invoices (including drafts) can be created until next year or after an upgrade. Credit notes do not count against the invoice limit.
- Team members — invitations are blocked once the limit is reached.
When a limit is reached, a banner appears on the Billing card and a system notification points to Upgrade your plan. Going over a limit (for example, after a downgrade) does not delete anything — existing data stays in place, but new records cannot be added until the count is under the limit again.
Scheduled changes
Downgrades and switches between monthly and annual billing are scheduled: they take effect at the end of the current billing period so paid-for time is not lost. While a change is pending, the current plan continues and the Billing card shows Your plan will change to … on ….
When a downgrade is picked, a confirmation dialog lists:
- Blockers — things that must be fixed before the change can go through. The most common is having more team members than the target plan allows.
- Warnings — things to be aware of but that do not block the change. For example, exceeding the lower plan's customer or invoice limit after the downgrade — existing records remain, but no new ones can be added until the count is back under the limit.
Upgrading
To upgrade, click Upgrade now in the Upgrade to… card for a one-click move to the next plan up at the current billing frequency, or View all plans to pick a specific plan and frequency. Upgrades take effect immediately. The charge is prorated for the remainder of the current billing period; the next full charge happens on the normal renewal date. Upgrading during a free trial ends the trial early and starts the paid subscription right away.
Downgrading
To downgrade, pick a lower plan from View all plans and confirm. The change is scheduled for the end of the current billing period. To call it off before then, click Cancel change in the Billing banner.
Cancelling
Cancelling the subscription keeps the paid plan active until the end of the billing period (the grace period). During that time the Billing card shows Your subscription will be canceled on … and a Keep current plan button that resumes the subscription with no gap.
