Deleting a business

Deleting a business is permanent. All its data — customers, products, invoices, estimates, transactions, members, settings — is removed and can't be recovered. Only the Owner of a business can delete it.

Before you delete

A few things to do first:

  • Export your data. Once the business is deleted, the exports are gone too. See Exporting customers, Exporting products, and Exporting documents — these are CSV exports and the document export also offers PDF copies for your records.
  • Cancel the subscription. If the business is on a paid plan, cancel first to avoid being charged again — see Subscription plans, upgrades, and downgrades. Deleting a business with an active subscription will cancel the subscription automatically, but cancelling first lets you confirm the billing details on your way out.
  • Make sure you really want to delete, not just leave. Sliptree doesn't currently support transferring ownership to another member, so deleting is final. If someone else should keep running the business, get in touch with support before you delete — we can help arrange a handover manually.

How to delete

  1. Open Business settingsCompany details.
  2. Scroll to the Danger zone section at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click Delete business and confirm by typing the business name when prompted.

The business disappears from your business switcher immediately. Your user account is unaffected — you can still sign in and use other businesses you belong to or create new ones.
